Anxiety and How To Cope

Anxiety is a part of everyone’s daily life. There are various ways of dealing with anxiety. Some people handle anxiety well. Other people don’t, and may need treatment. Getting the correct treatment and support can help a person deal with their anxiety better. Over time, they may even do away with the anxiety symptoms that plagued them previously.
Types
There are generally two groups of anxiety. The first is that type of anxiety that a person can normally deal with. The second is worse and requires assistance for the person to overcome.
Being able to understand anxiety can help resolve it. So first you need to determine which the type of your anxiety you have and then find out what is causing it.
Causes
Causes of anxiety can be external as well as internal. An “external” cause would be something outside your body – a “traumatic” experience in your past, excessive stress, etc.. An “internal” cause would be a disorder inside your body that would be causing these symptoms of anxiety.
People with deep rooted anxiety may have chemical imbalances. A recent study conducted in 2005 revealed that it is possible to do blood tests to find out the chemicals present in the brain which may cause anxiety.
Symptoms
Most symptoms of anxiety are quite well documented because of years of experience that physicians have had in observing them. The usual symptoms are heavy sweating, ‘lump in the throat’, palpitations, twitching, dry mouth, angina and shortness of breath. However, these symptoms can exist as side effects of some medicines or some other psychological issues.
When assiciated with a phobia, as opposed to being a ‘general’ anxiety disorder, the symptoms normally only happen in reaction to explicit stimuli.
Treatment
A qualified doctor can assess your anxiety, diagnose your psychological issues, and plan a course of treatment that serves you best.
If you detect that your anxiety is reaching a bad stage, then you should immediately seek advice from your doctor. Catching it as soon as possible can make recovery quicker and can even help you in the long run by being able to anticipate future episodes and head them off.
Journaling, therapy sessions, and group meetings are other various methods of treatment. However, cognitive-behavioral therapy is the most frequent type of treatment. In this kind of treatment the mental health professional aids the patient in eliminating the thought processes that contribute to the cause of anxiety.
If other methods of treatment are not productive, your physician may prescribe medications.
